Ma profonde affection pour le continent africain a été particulièrement nourrie par l'extraordinaire expérience humaine que j'ai vécue au Mali. Mon intention est de rendre hommage, avec respect et admiration, à la beauté, au courage et à la dignité de ceux et celles qui font face à un quotidien rigoureux et exigeant. Ces images révèlent le travail laborieux et souvent méconnu accompli par de nombreux habitants de la région. Ils sont loin des artifices de la civilisation industrielle, dans un environnement où le confort est un privilège rare. Dans ce contexte, les travailleurs s'engagent dans des tâches qui rappellent les exploits mythiques d'Hercule, dans une lutte quotidienne où le choix est rarement donné, mais où la nécessité dicte le rythme de leur vie.
My profound affection for the African continent has been particularly enriched by the remarkable human experience I encountered in Mali. My aim is to honor, with deep respect and admiration, the beauty, courage, and dignity of those who confront a demanding and challenging daily life. These images reveal the arduous and often unnoticed efforts of many residents of the area. They are far from the trappings of industrial civilization, in an environment where comfort is a rare privilege. In this setting, workers engage in tasks reminiscent of the Labors of Hercules, facing a daily struggle where choices are seldom given, but where necessity dictates the pace of their lives. |
